Belgium visa from the UAE (2026)

This is a Schengen state — the visa, fee and 90/180 rule base is shared. Read the full Schengen guide →

Belgium's UAE operation is compact and business-weighted: Brussels being the EU's administrative core, files anchored in meetings and institutional visits dominate. The Schengen base rules apply unchanged.

Processing time
10–15 days extendable to 45 in peak season

Visas

Who needs this visa

  • UAE citizens are visa-waived across the Schengen area (since 2022) — this guide is for UAE residents on other passports.
  • Residents of India, Pakistan, Philippines, Egypt, Nigeria, Russia and most other non-waiver passports need a C-type Schengen visa.
  • Filings go through the Belgian mission's designated application channel in the UAE; check the current centre when booking.
  • Demand is steadier than tourist missions — appointments are less seasonal.
  • Holders of UK, US, Canadian, Gulf and several other waiver passports enter visa-free for up to 90 days — no application needed.

Document checklist

Document checklist

  1. Passport valid for 3+ months after you return, issued within the past 10 years, with two blank pages
  2. Schengen application form, filled and signed
  3. Two recent colour photos 35×45 mm against a white background
  4. Travel medical insurance with minimum €30,000 coverage valid across the whole Schengen area
  5. Reserved return flight itinerary — a booking is enough at filing stage
  6. Hotel booking or a formal invitation from a host in the destination
  7. Three months of bank statements demonstrating funds for the trip
  8. NOC letter from the employer plus labour contract, or trade licence for business owners

Process

How it works

  1. Confirm the main destination

    day 0

The country of the longest stay issues the visa. Filing to the wrong mission for the actual trip is a classic refusal reason.

  2. Book the VFS appointment

    weeks ahead

Slots are claimed through the VFS booking system; in high season calendars fill weeks ahead. Watch for released cancellations.

  3. Prepare the document file

    1–2 weeks

Collect the checklist in order; keep dates identical across the form, bookings, NOC and cover letter.

  4. Submit in person with biometrics

    1 day

Fingerprints and a document check at the VFS centre; fingerprints repeat every 59 months.

  5. Consulate decision

    10–15 days

Standard handling is up to 15 calendar days, extendable to 45 when volumes spike.

  6. Collect the passport, check the sticker

    1–3 days

Verify dates, entries and the duration-of-stay field on the spot — a sticker typo costs a refiling.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Can I visit other Schengen countries on this visa?

Yes — a Schengen C visa is valid across the zone. The application country should be your main destination by nights or purpose; a visa used mostly elsewhere is flagged on later applications.

How far ahead should I apply?

You may file up to 6 months before travel. For peak-season trips start at the 3-month mark — the appointment calendar, not the consulate, is the constraint.

How much bank balance do I need to show?

There is no fixed figure. Officers look for a balance consistent with your income and trip length, supported by three months of statements.

Is Belgium a good first Schengen application?

Yes, for a genuinely Belgium-anchored trip: lower appointment pressure and a business-friendly profile. The file still has to prove the trip is what it says it is.

Do I need an invitation for an EU-institution visit?

For institutional meetings you need the host's confirmation — a meeting request or accreditation — alongside the standard file.

A tourist visa does not solve it? Make it a residence visa

A UAE company of your own means a residence visa, banking and 0% personal income tax. We match the license package to your visa plan.
