Glossary · Certificate of Incorporation

What Is Certificate of Incorporation in the UAE

A certificate of incorporation is the registry's official proof that the company exists, issued once the incorporation documents are signed and fees are paid. Banks, marketplaces and payment providers request it — alongside the trade license — as the primary evidence of the legal entity.

Why it matters

Why it matters when opening a company

It is the first document in every bank KYC pack and platform verification, from corporate accounts to Amazon.ae.

The certificate is issued once and never renews — after a license renewal you present the renewed license, not a new certificate.

Process

How it works

  1. Incorporation documents signed and fees settled

    Step 1

  2. Registry issues the certificate with the official company number

    Step 2

Mini-FAQ

Common questions

Is the certificate the same as the trade license?

No — the license authorizes the activities and renews annually; the certificate proves incorporation and is issued once at registration.

What if the certificate is lost?

The registry reissues a certified copy for a small fee, and most authorities provide an online verification service in the meantime.
