Tourist visas for Ukrainians in OAE. Flights are canceled
UAE introduces visa regime for Ukrainian citizens. The Emirati authorities have suspended the visa-free regime for citizens of Ukraine.
The United Arab Emirates have introduced visa requirements for the citizens of Ukraine. According to the embassy of Ukraine in Abu Dhabi, starting from March 1, 2022, the citizens of Ukraine must obtain a visa before entering the UAE.
“From March 1, 2022, the United Arab Emirates temporarily suspends the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the UAE on the mutual abolition of visa requirements,” the diplomatic mission said.
The temporary suspension of the Memorandum of Understanding does not apply to Ukrainian citizens who are already in the Emirates. The embassy also promises to provide additional information to Ukrainians who are in the UAE for tourism purposes and cannot return home due to restrictions on air service.
Earlier, Emirates Airlines announced the suspension of a number of flights of its partners – flydubai and S7 – to some cities in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The measure is associated with the closure of airspace in these regions.
Passengers who have booked tickets for flights to these cities as a final destination will not be allowed to land at the point of departure (in Dubai).
In particular, flydubai has suspended the following flights:
- Kiev (KBP) – until and including March 8, 2022
- Odessa (ODS) – until March 8, 2022 inclusive
- Krasnodar (KRR) – until February 28, 2022
- Rostov-on-Don (ROV) – till February 28, 2022
- Minsk (MSQ) – until March 8, 2022
