UAE: No criminal action against any person below 11 years

The UAE Prosecutor’s Office announced in a tweet on Wednesday that under Article 64 of Federal Decree-Law No. 31 of 2021 on the Criminal Code, no criminal case will be brought against any person who is under the age of 11 at the time of the crime.
The prosecutor’s office published this information as part of its campaign to promote a legal culture among members of society, as well as to raise public awareness of the law and the country’s laws.
The article read: “Criminal proceedings may not be instituted against any person who, at the time of the offense, was under the age of 11 years. Persons of diminished perception and minors shall be subject to the provisions of the law relating to delinquent juveniles and juveniles prone to delinquency.”
